May the Lord give you His peace! Although it was too hot for the horses, the Franciscans of the Eucharist, our neighbors here in West Humboldt Park and friends from around Chicago, Indiana and Wisconsin still celebrated in style today at our summer block party!
While folks from St. John, IN spearheaded the grilling, Fr. Bob, the sisters and friends from U of I, St. Mary’s in Wisconsin and around Chicago and the Suburbs played games and chalked the street with some fantastic works of art.
Competition was heavy in jump rope and bean bag toss. We aren’t sure, but we think seminarian Ismael (studying for Chicago) came in first (50 jumps), followed by Sr. Alicia at a distant second (23 jumps) . . . we are still trying to figure out if Fr. Bob or Carole’s team won bean bag toss.
Thank God for such a fantastic day . . . rounded out by some fun praise and worship song and dance which our kids here on the West Side really love. God bless and keep us all as we enter into 4th of July Celebrations.
