On May 13, we hosted a beautiful Mother’s Day brunch for about 200 of our neighbors. The event started with a simple prayer service and reflection on motherhood and the special role of Our Lady in our lives in the upper church, and then everyone headed downstairs for a delicious, home-made meal of ham, green beans, potato salad, fruit salad, and Italian cookies. The benefactors who sponsored the meal also purchased roses for all of the women present, and we were able to make small gift bags for all of the moms using some providentially-timed bulk donations that had come in recently. This was our first non-Christmas or Thanksgiving indoor meal with the neighborhood since the pandemic, and it was so good to be back! Our neighbors loved the chance to enjoy a delicious meal, meet all the wonderful volunteers, and visit with the Franciscans and each other. The school children that Sr. Alicia, Sr. Stephanie, and Sr. Laura teach even helped to make the table decorations and centerpieces for the event! Thanks to all who helped make this beautiful event possible!
